For this Plugdata project, I created an interactive audio story about a lonely robot searching for connection. The patch uses Porter Robinson's "Sad Machine" as background music while users trigger different parts of the robot's emotional journey, from losing his friends to calling out "Is anyone there?" into an empty world.
The system responds to user interactions by playing different story moments that represent the robot's feelings. Users can experience his confusion, hope, and growing loneliness as days pass without finding anyone. The continuous music creates an emotional foundation while the interactive elements let people explore the story at their own pace.
This project taught me how interactive audio can create powerful emotional experiences beyond regular storytelling. By letting users control when story moments happen, the patch becomes personal and makes the robot's loneliness feel real and relatable.
